Preparing a book proposal?
Below you will find five samples of academic book proposals for different kinds of scholarly book projects. They include proposals for monographs and edited volumes submitted to university presses and commercial scholarly publishers. Once you click subscribe, you’ll have access to all five samples.
Together, they show how a book proposal can frame and structure a project, define its audience, position it in relation to existing literature, and make its contribution legible to a publisher.
N.B. In the proposals for edited volumes, contributor chapter abstracts have been redacted out of respect for contributors’ copyright. Suggested peer reviewers have also been redacted.
